đŸ”„Â Welcome to my new substack.. I’m so happy you’ve come to my capriccio.

A Capriccio with the Dome of St Peter’s, Rome, Seen through a Ruined Triumphal Arch, Joseph Mallord William Turner

ca·pric·ci·o - /kəˈprēCHēˌƍ/

The capriccio is a pictorial ‘invention’ creating an imaginary or ‘analogue’ reality by combining existing buildings or places with imaginary ones, shifting or re-organizing their locations and their groupings into uniquely suggestive visions. In fact what characterizes the capriccio is: truth, reality and realism. It enhances a formidable potential of life and livability in beautifully composed, complex and memorable environments, places, landscapes and buildings which only exist in the realm of desire
The realm of desire is the realm of life

- Lucien Steil, The Architectural Capriccio

I’ve been on substack for over two years now, but have spent most of my time on Water to Wine, where I’ve been honing my voice in silent company. With Capriccio, my intent is come bring you my landscaped thought of whatever Beautiful I come upon, whatever Truth I can love, whatever Good ideas I can stitch together for that day, everyday. This may include musings on:

- intimacy

- faith, prayer, & spirituality

- family, marriage, love, & relationships

- deepening friendships

- online life

- architecture, civilization, culture, politics (really? do I want to talk politics? how about on how to ignore politics? how to see & tolerate politics?)

- the relationship side of building sustainable lives and love

- learning, thinking, writing

- original [dumb] fiction & [flighty] poetry

Nothing much. Just whatever.

My favorite thing is to see, to draw connections, making the abstract real.. long-lasting beyond your closing the tab on this page. :)

in Love,
